I · The firm
Built around the quality of the advice.
We are a partner-led law firm practising across the UAE mainland, ADGM and DIFC. We founded Amara & Partners on the view that legal advice is better when the lawyers giving it know the client’s business, work closely with one another, and attend to the detail themselves. We have organised ourselves so that this holds for every matter we accept.
Our practice follows the life of a business and the private affairs of the people behind it. We establish and structure companies, holding vehicles and special purpose vehicles. We draft and negotiate commercial agreements, maintain the statutory compliance of established groups, and see companies through restructuring and liquidation. We act in shareholder and commercial disputes and in arbitration, and we advise families on succession, foundations and the holding of personal assets.
Our clients
We act for multinational groups operating in the UAE, many of which have instructed us for several years, as well as regulated businesses, founders, investors and family offices. International corporate services providers refer their clients’ UAE compliance work to us, and we are appointed to a federal government framework for legal advisory services.
In their instructions, the commercial, regulatory and documentary questions arise together. A clinical laboratory’s contracts depend on its licensing conditions and on the rules that govern patient data. A holding company in ADGM depends on how the operating companies beneath it are owned. We answer these questions together.
II · How we work
Partner-led throughout.
Every matter is led by one of our partners, who is responsible for it from first instruction to completion, with associates who stay on the file. Because we practise on the mainland, in ADGM, in DIFC and in the Dubai free zones, a client whose affairs span them instructs one firm, and we give the advice on each with the others in view.
We are clear about what we do not do. We do not advise on tax; we structure the legal arrangements alongside the client’s tax advisers so that the two are consistent. Where foreign law applies, we instruct and coordinate counsel there and remain the client’s point of contact.
The standard of our work does not depend on the size of the matter. The outcome of a transaction or a dispute is often decided by the drafting of a definition, the allocation of a risk, or the preparation done before a negotiation begins. We give that work the same care whether the instruction is large or modest.
We run our practice on a management system we built ourselves. Each client’s documents, correspondence and deadlines sit in one record, so everyone on a matter has its full history and statutory dates are tracked rather than remembered.
III · Our approach
Senior attention on every matter.
The lawyers who advise our clients are the lawyers who do the work. We do not pass instructions down to a junior team once we have won them. We judge ourselves by the quality of the work and by whether clients return to us with their next matter.
